Parko Loses in round three and hands Fanning world title.

Joel Parkinson has lost his round three heat to local wildcard Gavin Gillette in epic 6-10 foot conditions at the acclaimed Banzaii Pipeline, leaving Mick Fanning to take his second world title. With Joel Parkinson and Mick Fanning being the only two people that could win the title, Joel had to finish higher than Fanning to have any chance of any taking it out.. For winning the ASP World Title, Fanning has also received an extra $50,000 for winning the Vans world title bonus package. With Parko winning the first 3 of 5 events on the world championship tour, Fannings chase too win will go down in surfing history.
